Powers, Abilities, and MacGuffins
Innate Abilities
Sand responds to the strong emotions of the witches who control it, behaving like an aura around them. When Sadira is angry, sand at her feet will move turbulently, spiking or cresting like waves. When she's pleased, it ripples. Severe fright or panic can make the ground near her tremor as she gathers energy.
Summoning
Amulet Required for the Golem
She can summon golems and creatures made of sand; she can only control two or three at a time, however, and because she keeps a golem always at hand, her creatures tend to be smaller, less complicated animals like serpents. They can last anywhere from a few hours to a few years; she has had her golem for fifteen years - long enough for her to name it "Amaan", and for it to begin developing a consciousness and self-awareness of its own.
Creation
Amulet Required
Though it has its limitations, Sadira can use her magic to create anything she wants; the easiest construct is glass, of course, but with enough effort and focus, as well as the aid of her amulet, she can create things like metal cages and clothing. This has a draining effect on her, however; while a dress would wind her for a few minutes, creating something large and elaborate would leave her needing several days of rest.
Manipulation
Just as sand reacts to her emotions, it also reacts to her will, if in large quantities. Sadira can cause sandstorms and great tidal wave-like crests that crash down on her opponents, or shape it into enormous hands that batter and grasp. She can raise spikes from the ground, creating a barrier around a target area, or can send it winding up a person's body and snaking into their mouth and nose, suffocating them; this is, in fact, her preferred method for ridding herself of people who have become too troublesome.
Because the sand remains sand for these spells, it doesn't exhaust her the way creation does. On this vein, she can also create structures from sand such as thrones, sand castles, statutes, and so forth. There's not really any particular point to this aspect of her manipulation ability save its entertainment value.
Teleportation and Shapeshifting

Sadira can teleport from place to place as long as there is sand on her person. The process is a strange one: her entire body becomes a statue made of sand, which then crumbles, leaving a pile behind. She reappears at her intended destination in the reverse process, with sand gathering together and reforming itself into her shape, then trickling off her and winding itself back into her pockets.
By this same process, she could potentially change her appearance and even assume the form of an animal; unfortunately, she hasn't quite mastered that trick yet, even with the aid of her amulet.
Metamorphosis
She can sprinkle sand on an item to change its shape. A ladle can become a sword, a bucket can become a helmet, so forth. This is, like Creation, particularly taxing for her, and she needs the aid of her amulet to do it without exhausting herself.
Mental Manipulation
Sadira can use enchanted sand to alter the memories of a few people so they believe an alternate history for several days or years; this is a spell that can be broken with true love's kiss. By sprinkling sand in someone's food, she can make them more amicable towards her, or talkative. With a puff of it in someone's face, she can make them believe the lies she tells. For short periods of time, she can make people believe they're someone or something else, though this spell, too, can be broken with true love's kiss.
Portal Creation
Amulet Required
Her efforts at portal creation began with an attempt to create a fantasy world into which she could escape; she had success when she was fifteen, glimpsing a land of castles and dragons and knights only for a moment before before the portal closed again. When she was older, with the aid of her amulet she found she could keep the portal open for longer periods of time, and even direct what world it opened in to.
Enchanted Sand
An ingredient rather than an ability, enchanted sand is used in most of her spellwork: she works magic into it ahead of time and carries it in a pouch on her person, ready to be used for more complicated endeavors like memory charms and portal creation.
Potions
She has a number of scrolls which detail potions used mostly for nefarious purposes; she rarely makes them, however, as she prefers to work exclusively with sand.
